The Strickland Commission

1975 Report of the
Legislative Study Commission
on Public and Private Schools

 

         The 1975 Legislative Study Commission on Public and Private Schools was more commonly known as the "Strickland Commission" since it was chaired by NC State Senator Thomas E. Strickland.  It was created by Resolution 183 during the 1974 session of the North Carolina General Assembly.  Its purpose was to "make a thorough study" of:  The relationship between public and non-public schools; the relationship between non-public schools and the office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction; and, the certification of teachers in non-public schools.
