The annual North Carolina Youth Legislative Assembly (YLA) helps high school students hone their debate skills. In this weekend-long mock legislative session, students draft, debate and vote on bills dealing with a range of issues from banning the use of tobacco products by youth to reinstating prayer in public schools. If you are up to the challenge of taking on today's issues and having fun with people from across North Carolina, then YLA is for you!
The 32nd session of this assembly will take place in Raleigh at the Raleigh Sheraton Capital Center Hotel March 15-17, 2002. The Opening General Session begins at noon on Friday and ends on Sunday about 1 PM. The registration postmark deadline is February 15, 2002. Students enrolled in North Carolina's non-public schools are invited and encouraged to participate. Registration fee is $165.
